Man Cave
With football season well on it’s way I thought it might be time to focus on the guys and what they want in a space. Becoming more and more popular is the man cave.
“A man cave or manspace, is a male sanctuary, such as a specially equipped garage, spare bedroom, media room, den, or basement. It is a metaphor describing a room inside the house where “guys can do as they please” without fear of upsetting any female sensibility about house decor or design…”
Wikipedia has quite the definition for a man cave and I’m sure there’s many others out there or maybe you have your own description. Definitions aside, I think there’s one thing we can all agree on and that is the fact that men sometimes need their own space. And while we can’t all have The Dan Patrick Show’s studio in our basement or our garage, we can find and make a space that puts the guys interest first. Here are some ideas and necessities to make your man cave dream come true.
Decide what you want out of your man cave before you start. Paint the walls to accommodate what is happening in the space. Don’t be afraid to go bold and masculine as long as it is well lit for activities! Determine what items you need for the space like a mini fridge, or maybe even a full size kegerator. A TV is almost always a necessity especially if you are you playing video games or watching sports. The bigger the better. And don’t forget to personalize with man things! Sports memorabilia, deer, cars, you name it.
