An Office For A Fashionista #EEDKrusesToTheExpo

An office is never complete without a little inspiration and no other inspiration would be complete without nods to some of fashion’s best. A simplistic approach to color led to this office’s BIG punch of pattern. This approach may nod to a simplistic design; however, the execution of this room was far from simple. This bedroom turned fashion editor’s office was a detailed work of art. From the architectural details to the customized furniture pieces, there was careful intent to everything.

The ceiling is the punch of pattern this room needed and there was no better spot to put the wallpaper but the fifth wall. Ceilings, overlooked for the most part, is one of our favorite spots to add the most unexpected WOW factors (whether it be a wallpaper, trim detail, or an accent color). This gorgeous high-contrast wallpaper from D.L. Couch was the perfect editorial detail for this space. It also perfectly complimented the custom tile shower design.

Hidden components, like the hidden pantry in the kitchen of this home, often leave odd niches in floor plans. One of our jobs as designers is to find intentional uses for every inch of a home. This niche in the office was begging for a custom built-in. This room’s ensuite has a wonderful walk-in closet so there was no need for covered storage. Therefor, open shelving customized to fit this niche & accommodate accent lighting was the perfect architectural touch. If you look hard enough, you’ll notice some functional, not-so-pretty elements that were expertly hidden within this feature (the return vent & the light switch). This built-in not only sets the home apart but gives the homeowner a great spot to customize their home and this room to their own tastes.

On the last wall we had available that wasn’t taken up by windows, we knew we needed some great artwork. It’s no secret that portraits are VERY in right now, and Audrey Hepburn was the perfect addition to this office. Audrey was the perfect addition for this style icon’s office. Lauren Galleries helped us find these portraits and customize them to the perfect size & perfect picture frame.

The furniture was such a labor of love from some of our most beloved vendors. The chairs were a show stopping design from Bernhardt in a gorgeous fabric that highlighted the chair’s metal frame without pulling focus. The desk was made completely custom by our good friend Sean at Hickory Ridge Customs. The writing desk concept came from an inspiration picture and was brought to life by Sean. The finishing piece to the desk was the 3” thick acrylic top (MUCH harder to find than anticipated). Regal Plastics helped bring our vision to life with these amazing acrylic pieces that sets this piece far apart from the others.

Covering the gorgeous tile floor, for a bit of warmth and color, is this amazing rug from Feizy Rugs. This rug is from their Micah collection and a fan favorite of ours here at EED. The quality is always on par with Feizy and this collection looks phenomenal for those who love more neutral/metal tones.

Lastly, this office would not be complete without the custom books from E. Lawrence Ltd. These collections are stunning and you can observe a few versions of their quote books, their famous faces, & the customizable bound books. You know we are suckers for a good beautifully bound book! Being able to customize the binding was such a perfect detail for this home to not only promote ourselves but the Expo as a whole.

This room is a stunning example of how powerful tonal minimalism can be. Months of diligent detail work turned this bedroom into the stunningly intricate work of art that it is.
