It’s no secret that the holiday season warrants some wonderful twinkling lights displays that are known locally and statewide in Iowa. We rounded up some of the best spots in Iowa that we hope our readers are able to see this holiday season.
|Jolly Holiday Lights – Altoona|Open through December 29th, 5:30 to 10:00 pm|
Jolly Holiday Lights is organized by the Iowa chapter of Make-A-Wish-Foundation. For the last 20 years, they have put up lights in Adventureland Park to make a 2 1/2 mile long twinkle adventure. They typically have over 100 displays throughout the course. You can purchase tickets at the park, or you can purchase them online. 100% of their proceeds go directly to Make-A-Wish-Foundation!
|Festival of Lights Christmas Display – Mount Pleasant|Open through December 31st, 5:30-9:00pm|
Located at the Old Threshers Campgrounds in Mount Pleasant, the Festival of Lights Christmas Display can be seen Thursdays through Sundays until December 31st. Imagine seeing the lights displayed on 60 acres of ground! This display is claimed to be the largest in the Midwest! There is a charge per vehicle and depends on the type (i.e. car, van, bus).
|Holiday Lights Magical Nights – Decorah|Open through December 25, 5:00-9:00pm|
Each year, Decorah offers a free-will-donation drive through lights display at Pulpit Rock Campgrounds. Hundreds of cars come through each night! Put on by many generous volunteers, 100% of their proceeds go right back to Helping Services for Youth and Families.
|Festival of Lights – Carroll|Open through December 25th, 5:00-9:00pm|
With over 1.5 million lights, Carroll’s light display is at Swan Lake State Park. Put on each year by the local EMS, drivers are able to make a free-will-donation and receive a mini candy canes for everyone in the vehicle. You can even tune into a local station that has Christmas music playing while you enjoy your ride through the park.
|Symphony of Lights – Clinton|Open through December 30th, 6:00-9:00pm|
The Symphony of Lights in Clinton have over 40 light displays at Eagle Point Park. There are over 500,000 lights actually in the displays! For just $7 per vehicle, you and your family will be able to see the splendor of Clinton’s 1.1 mile of displays.
